Pros

- Good insurance benefits. You will really need the medical insurance to get fixed up after working at Supermicro for a while. - Job security - if you are any good, you are basically a rock star here. If you are terrible, they will not fire you.

Cons

- Unless you are related to or favored by upper management your career is on hold the moment you first step through the doors of this business. - Narcissists and sycophants are rewarded. Most of the mid-level managers fit this description. Politics rule the office. - Most of the office areas here are dark and depressing dungeons that will slowly drain the life out of you. - Good luck if you don't speak Mandarin. Even many employees with good English skills will speak Mandarin to others when you are in the room and a part of the conversation. This is very offensive. - You'll almost never see the light of day because you are often expected to work close to or over 12 hours a day, usually to make up for someone's mistake. - The compensation here is terrible, and good luck getting _any_ sort of significant raise or promotion even if you put in an exceptional effort. The credit for anything you do that actually gets noticed will go to your manager. - You have to get the CEO to sign something or nobody will act and your projects--no matter how minor they are--will not get done. Everyone is so afraid of offending the man that they don't want to tell him any bad news. This is a shame, because he is the only one that can fix the problems. - There is no proper communication between departments or with customers and most of it is about blaming others for delays and mistakes. - There are multiple meetings each week that pretty much the entire company gets dragged in to. These consist of nearly indecipherable propaganda speeches and public humiliation of employees.
