      Swagelok a company with a strong product, heading in the wrong direction.

      Pros

      Good History and family owned. One of the larger employers in the Cleveland area. They have a good product line in high demand, they are busy. They offer a good retirement plan for a younger person. The work area is kept very clean and most areas are climate controlled.

      Cons

      This is a numbers driven company and they really push production and long hours, often 68 hours per week. Faster, is a word to express the norm. Health care has it's limits with high deductibles. The family ownership is fading and soon that may change. This is a very hard driven atmosphere, are you up to it?

      Pros

      They make an excellent product. The pay is good, and you can negotiate a good vacation package. Health/401K benefits are mediocre. - TIP: They have a hard time getting applicants in IS, so don't undersell yourself on pay or vacation!

      Cons

      This is the place for you if you want to work somewhere that has: - no diversity at all at the management level (i.e. 100% all white males) in departments where other companies typically have 30 - 50% women, and people from other races - serious gender bias issues that are blatantly ignored - an archaic dress code - overworks some, and underworks others - limited opportunities for advancement

      Two week paid shut down.

      OFC does not promote blacks. Personally, I believe they go out of their way not to. Their brand of racism is subtle and polite but obviously a daily, normal business practice at Sawgelok company. Racism is clearly, apart of their culture and foundation. Very few black supervisors. One black in the office. Most are seen only on the shop floor (lowest paid). Blacks (African Americans) are paid well below other minorities meaning white women, non black immigrants (East Indians) and black immigrants (Africans). With wages low and very little work within the company, no OT is available making it difficult to make ends meet for the poorly paid among Swagelok employees. Knowing times are hard for everyone, especially for the blacks they choose not give a livable salary, they offer no empathic solutions to help their so-called "Swagelok Family" who are struggling. We are unseen by this company which is their norm.
