-Chance to really help students with a range of problems. -great leadership experience.

Cons

-pay is terrible-it was arranged as an hourly wage for four hours a week, when it should be either a stipended position or a position where you're actually paid for the hours you work (there were some weeks where I worked 10-20 hours and was paid for four). -the SAM directors have no clue what they're doing. -If you really want to help students, become an RA instead (or be a SAM for a year as a precursor to being an RA).

The office culture is extremely casual. Very laidback atmosphere. I learned a lot during my time there. Full-time staffers are all extremely approachable.

Cons

Student worker pay hasn't increased at all in the past eight years, despite tuition increasing by thousands of dollars. Actual office is dimly lit.
