Pros

The actual work with children and families can be really rewarding.

Cons

Make no mistake - this is a sales job. It's also primarily run by franchisers who may or may not accurately represent the end goal. This is not a non-profit and while you may be helping children, you will also (especially if serving in IN, MI, ME or FL) be cleaning facilities (including restrooms), purchasing supplies out of pocket with never realized promises of reimbursement and working 50-75 hour work weeks. Flexibility is slim to none and management is highly regulated. Also suspect that this organization actively targets the childless because this allows them to pressure employees to prioritize their workplace over any other facets of life, despite any schedule or personal commitments discussed/negotiated prior to hire. The position tends to pay well but when you figure the salary against the actual hours worked, you're making about 15-17/hr. Just beware, unless you enjoy living at work and passive aggressive management. Your coworkers will span from amazing to highly toxic here. Your leadership will be the same.

Working hours are somewhat flexible, materials and resources are provided

Cons

Salary is very low, even though staff need to be certified teachers. I actually made more money working at a coffee shop

Pros

Supportive and appreciative families and students. Deep connections with students and tutors. the program really works

Cons

Corporate let's anyone but one. They're not prochild. Owners have no accountability if they break their contact or verbally abuse staff and students. Franchisee was/is clinically narcissistic. Low pay for work involved.
