Pros

If your child gets a good, committed tutor then they have a chance. Unfortunately that's hard to come by paying $10 per hour to the tutor, especially when they charge a couple of thousand for the program.

EXTREMELY expensive Your child actually getting help is hit or miss

* Enjoyed this job for the first two years, but then new owners came in and destroyed it. Last two years have been awful. * Love the teachers I worked with. *Love the parents and students and watching the confidence blossom.

Cons

* Micro-management to the highest degree coming from Sylvan National and from the franchisee. * An owner who didn't know anything about the educational aspect of the business and was concerned only with profit, not students, not teachers, not directors. * Sylvansync (the new IPAD-based program) is riddled with technology problems and is not nearly as effective as the old paper-based program. * No room for growth from a career standpoint. *Very long hours.
