      Good experience for working with students of various abilities

      Pros

      This job gives great experience for learning to work with and to encourage underachievers as well as assist gifted students. Everyday was a new challenge but very rewarding when you see the progress made by students.

      Cons

      There are limited number of hours. This is not a full time job, but good for substitute teachers and those looking to add experience to their resume.

      Awful pay, poor materials, nice people

      Pros

      Caring teachers and nice kids who want to do better in school. Flexible hours.

      Cons

      Awful pay--around $12 an hour to tutor up to three children. Materials are dated. Too much record keeping during tutor time. Three children at the table are too many. It does not allow for the kind of quality tutoring Sylvan is charging parents for (but not paying the teachers for). They are really ripping off parents with that set-up.
