Pros

Symetra has aggressive growth plans, which translates into a lot of opportunities. The culture is very good; people work together to address challenges.

Cons

We're still maturing in some spaces, so too often things get done by relationships versus process. Some of our tools and systems need improvement as well, but management has made the commitment to address these areas, and recent investments indicate they are backing up their words.

Enthusiastic and genuine cross-enterprise teams who embraced new approaches. There had been a brief time in 2012/2013 where there appeared to be a solid leadership in place, but dissipated with the departure of key individuals.

Cons

Lack of cohesive strategy across business channels. Product strategy is inconsistent, particularly the Life Division. Corporate Marketing leadership is unsophisticated and not aligned to strategy.
