Pros

I spent 7 years with the company and was able to grow from a customer service role to the marketing department. They were great about giving you the opportunity to grow within the company.

Cons

By being promoted through various roles, I acquired new job responsibilities, but would end up keeping some of the same from a previous role. Also some poor management from those who had been with the company for too long.

Pros

Lots of flexibility and resources for employees

Cons

Training was not really structured. No plan from day to day, just kind of winging it.

Response from Julie Shoji, SVP Customer Experience and Change Leadership: I think Symetra and our CEO Margaret Meister are pretty great, too! We are proud to offer employees flexibility in when and where they work. We recognize the importance of a structured onboarding and training program and are actively working on this for new hires starting with one department, but plan to use this work as a blueprint to extend to other areas in the future.
