Pros

Syngenta is a great company to work for, providing plenty of challenging opportunities to its employees. The recent acquisition by ChemChina opens new perspective in the bricks. The market medium term horizon is bright with continuous demand in higher quality food and feed. There are pockets or growth and bright spots in Syngenta portfolio.

Cons

There is a lot of pressure due to overall poor results, linked to low oil price which reduce farmers income and willingness to invest. As a result the sector main firms are concentrating and reducing costs. In addition, the public demand for more sustainability reduces the freedom to operate of firms like SYT which produce pesticides and GMOs. Finally, employment in Basel is under pressure and employees are kindly asked to move to the front line to face the customers - which is good, but there is a balance that needs to be striked.
