Beautiful Office not so Beautiful Work Experience

Pros

The people that work at Syngenta are, for the most part, very pleasant and professional. They care about doing a good job and work very hard to achieve all of the goals they are given.

Cons

Employees are expected to work on large projects as well as their "day jobs". IT staff including Business Analysts have been outsourced and the business experts wind up doing the job of the Business Analyst because knowledge transfer has not happened. Key people are continually the "go to" employees for all of this type of work.

Disengaged Workforce Lacking Empowerment

Pros

It has a flexible work schedule, work life balance, and great pay & benefits. The people are all very nice.

Cons

Constant transition and reorganization, lacking clear Roles & Responsibilities making it hard to hold anyone accountable to basic tasks. Performance based off of whether people like you since accountability is so hard to measure. Information regarding key projects/processes is not readily provided and hard to come by. Leadership lacking and no clear strategy which drives the culture of ambiguity. Poor quality outsourcing is common in the company and makes many processes and functions difficult and poorly run. The people that own the relationships with outsourcing appear to not really own – they do what the outsourced provider says instead of managing the vendor. No one seems to know how anything gets done. On paper the values and culture of the organization look good but it's not a culture of empowerment or inclusion. Feels a lot like the 1950s. There are many high paid employees that do basic administrative work because of lack of empowerment.
