Pros

Management and owners take great care of their employees through bonuses, generous pay raises, gifts at 5, 10, 15 and 20 year milestones, and lots of other amazing perks.

Cons

Building location is on a not-so-great part of town but at least it's not out of town. And the owners are constantly improving the building interior and exterior. You can tell there's pride here.

Pros

Very much recommended company in a way. They made me very happy twice and more. Once, I was so happy to get a job there. Another time, I had been in ecstasies for months since I walked out the door for the last. Recalling those days always make me feel happy for where I am now. They live in a very unique culture, which people may like, like a safe haven. In all means, people should try to keep it so. An advice to those who want to settle in somewhere quiet place: Understanding of the system is the key to success, and that is the ultimate and the only skill. Good Luck!

Cons

No cons, but may offer free lunch often.

Pros

Relaxed culture, friendly coworkers, flexible hours

Cons

Office is old, rundown, and a sea of gray. No windows upstairs. Definitely an older crowd and not a young person’s company, except maybe for all the interns who got positions through nepotism. There’s been more than one intern with little to no programming experience, which is a little crooked in my opinion. Some company policies are backwards, like using paper timesheets in 2018. Feedback is infrequent and managers will ignore I was also ghosted by my manager after asking for performance feedback while I was leaving the company. Not even a goodbye, as if I had never worked there.

Syntech Systems Response

In reviewing our records, we have NOT had ANY employees leave who worked here "full-time for less than a year." It is very important to Doug Dunlap, CEO, that Syntech employees enjoy their work environment, as well as a good work/life balance. Our relaxed culture, flexible hours, and friendly coworkers are a direct result of Doug’s vision being carried out by HR and upper management for all employees. This is one reason why we have low turnover and high retention. A small portion of our building is “under construction” and we are very excited about office renovations that are currently underway which includes freshly painted walls and new doors! Last year, we piloted a summer STEM intern program for high school seniors. This proved to add value to our engineering department (the interns built 44 AIM Mini-Racks for our engineers to use for testing purposes) while giving high school seniors a glimpse of the many opportunities available in STEM related fields. This summer pilot program was a success, so we have continued it for a second year. Additionally, this is our third year implementing Syntech's STEM college intern program. The majority of our college interns (the ones you refer to as having “little to no programming experience”) are students of FSU/FAMU's College of Engineering. During their internship, they created an electronic timesheet that is currently being utilized by our engineering department. Feedback that we have received from our college STEM interns, as well as their mentors within the engineering department, has been VERY POSITIVE and added value to the department resources. We are very happy with our STEM intern program and look forward to building on it every year, making it even bigger and better. Regarding your comment about Syntech not being a “young person’s company” - We are very proud of the diversity within our organization; with 183 employees, the average age is 43.
