As a contractor, I cannot comment on working at SO since I work for another company. From what I have experienced, the staff has been friendly.

Cons

Their health insurance program completely negates the benefit of working as a contractor. It could also use some clarification in reference to eye and dental care options.

Working under contract for Siemens on their wind farms

Get an easy chance to acquire experience. They hire anyone with no interview so some contractors are not really up to par. Decent starting pay.

Cons

No vacation, sick days. office staff is hard to get a hold of. no chance to get promoted to higher levels of tech positions within the company your are working for like other contracting companies.
