Bad Management.

Pros

- Flexibility is great for college/university students. The option to swap shifts with another colleague, the job can make life easier, by having the option to swap shifts. - Good experience to progress onto a better job, there are options to become team leader and move up. If a career in retail is for you or if you simply want the experience to help you with another job, which involves team leader skills. - Most of the associates who work for Tk Maxx are the reasons people work for the company. I’ve met lots of new people.

Cons

- Depending on the store, there is bad management. - Changes to work schedule without notice. - Pay is not the best. — Sometimes, the associates have more knowledge than management. - On occasions, shorted staffed and having to maintain a whole department on your own can be stressful. As well as, not having help on tills as a cashier, during busy periods such as the weekends.

Pros

It's 1 pound above minimum wage

Cons

Managers lie in the interview. I was told it's very easy to get overtime but in fact, overtime is sparse. You have to ask for managers approval to go to the toilet or to get water. If you're on the late shift you never know if you're finishing on time or 1 h later. You're stuck at the entrance of the store because of the closed shutters until a manger let's you out which can be even a 15 min wait. The staff schedule changes frequently, even a couple days before you're due to have a shift. Management books your holidays without enough notice and it's very difficult to reason with them. Managers treat staff as if they're children. Most colleagues have part time contracts ranging from 10- 20 h a week which is not enough to life off

Not good.

Pros

Payment was the same for all ages, so for 18-21 its better than some other places. Discounted gym membership through Gympass.

Cons

Depressing work environment, boring and monotonous job. No windows, natural light, or fresh air. Stores are organized in a way that is impossible to keep tidy. They put you in for overtime without asking and don't allow you to change said shifts unless you find someone willing to swap. You are not given much respect as an associate. They are not flexible with days/hours worked and you may struggle to fit the job around other responsibilities. They will most likely have you working both Saturday and Sunday every weekend unless you book it off, which you must do three weeks in advance and even then there's a chance they will reject the application and put you in anyway. Very cultlike managers in the company - tend to have worked there for over a decade, and forget that people have lives and responsibilities outside of working at the store. The job may be okay for a few months but for anyone looking for a long term job I wouldn't recommend.
