Pros

Starting pay for a city driver is $28.50/hour with overtime after 8. The pay rate is right in line with most other LTL companies, but what really sets TForce apart is our benefits, which are second to none: great health insurance that is very cheap for the employee, plus a good pension plan. This is a Teamster Union job. Unfortunately, that's where the good begins and ends.

Cons

As stated above, our benefits are what really separates us from the other companies in the LTL industry, and they are quite literally the only reason I stay here. The environment at this place is horrendous, and the most toxic I have ever experienced. Management goes out of their way to sow chaos and discord among the workforce, and the union vs. company mentality is extreme. Additionally, the company has now started a new program where they are not only paying the costs of school for dockworkers to obtain their CDL, they are also paying these people 40 hours a week while they go to school, which means every dockworker now wants to get their CDL. The best part is that city drivers and dockworkers are combined onto one local cartage board, which means that they can use their company seniority to bump ahead of drivers with years of experience. Road drivers are on their own board, and so are immune to being bumped by dockworkers with a fresh CDL. There is also a good deal of concern among drivers about the future of TForce Freight, both financially and operationally. Bottom line, if you want to start a career at TForce, I would absolutely apply for a road driver position and stay far away from the city, but my advice would be to keep walking and find someplace else to work.
