High pressure & politics, good benefits and stability

Pros

Fewer layoffs (percentage-wise) than other companies in the energy industry so far. The high management has a good business strategy, and the company is much more stable financially than its peers. Good compensation.

Cons

Very high pressure, no work-life balance in spite of lip-service given to it. Bullying managers who change agreed goals on the fly and will run you over if you voice an opinion different from theirs. Backstabbing and purposeful hoarding/silo-ing of technical information by employees.

Pros

Free snacks and work hours flexibility. Quarterly bonus, 401k, and benefits. Cookies after two hour quarterly meetings. Job security only for favorites.

Cons

Most Managers and supervisors hired by favoritism and not by experience or knowledge of the product they are managing. Managers overwhelm their good employees with work, causing it to be very stressful picking up the slack for others. Way underpaid for industry standard.
