Pros

Laid back work environment, nice people. the work environment is no aggressive or uptight like at some firms like goldman sachs, the management is not too rigid or strict, they have the right balance of strictness and cool. It is small enough not for one to be just another number and big enough to be able to move ahead and have the right growth opportunities. People that come from other companies usually stay longer than they do at other companies. The work environment is friendly, laid back, and dedicated to growth.

Cons

management is too lax on some employees, too harsh on others

Pros

good social side. great compensation. you work off your own back, "eat what you kill" is the term of the industry. the dealing room is manic when busy. a busy and load dealing room is a good dealing room. when its quiet, that means people arent putting bro in so youre ferretting around but generally good banter. only the striong survive, weak either dont perform or are driven out. good working environment and unique crowd of people. its a mean and highly driven environment thats an amazing pace to work if youve got it in you. a lot of hours ith clients and general freedom as long as youre bringing the money in.

Cons

exit opportunities are not amazing. although this is a fact of the industry and not unique to icap. of all the other brokers icap would be out front as far as i can tell. learnig is on the job and you are not formally trained as such. although you leave at the bell generally, a good broker spends time with his clients / is outgathering new ones s one must make sacrifices on some level but these are offset by the many good factors mentioned above. if the jobis fr you, then you wont be much affected by any of these bad points.

Pros

ICAP gives you a lot of exposure in terms of macro economics. If you just don't limit yourself to the job you are supposed to be doing and get into casual relations with your clients, there is tons to be learnt from the industry leaders.

Cons

limited industry scope. dying nowadays. you face tough competetion from electronic broking. As in every other broking job, it sees unfair at times. Your success is largely dependent on the number, size and type of clients you've got. You get focused to only one niche industry with limited self growth, ignoring all the other talents you possess.
