Pros

Very interesting technical work, good salary, nice working environment. TSMC is the leader in market share and process technology in the foundry sector, so the job was very stable in that sense.

Cons

Old-fashioned company culture, very hierarchical, completely non-transparent promotion procedure. None of the benefits of a modern employer. Focus on financial incentives, no real interest in developing human resources.

Pros

To be with family in Taiwan. People in Taiwan admire you when you are working in TSMC. The company won't fire people for now, so your job is stable and secured. The job is easy and routine, which leads to good life-work balance if your manager is not mean.

Cons

Salary is really low compared to big companies in the US. Not much career growth opportunities. Living is not easy in Hsinchu since the salary is only half of what you will get in the US, but the living cost is similar to San Jose. The environment and traffic is terrible in Hsinchu as well.

Pros

Though TSMC is a foundry but the office and working environment are pretty friendly. 1. The package is competitive 2. The employee's welfare is good with quality food, gym, and coffee shop in the rest area. 3. The overtime is paid.

Cons

1. Most of the jobs need to work in morning and night shifts, even you are an senior engineer. 2. Lack of flexibility in the working environment. Most of time, you work by using software and PC to control the system. 3. Lack of life and work balance.
