Awesome place to work

Pros

In addition to excellent benefits (100%-paid health, stock benefits, commuter subsidy, free food, amazing parties) there is an incredible culture. Everyone truly embodies our core value of “humble smart”. I have honestly never worked with smarter people in my life. There is a high degree of collaboration with little emphasis on title or position. We are great about giving people the benefit of the doubt and quick to recognize a job well done. Though everyone works very hard, we routinely take the time to pause after a big project to celebrate...something we do quite well if I do say so myself. :) Everything from silent disco dancing parties to Mariners baseball games. We know how to celebrate and foster friendships among coworkers. Recently, during bike-to-work month, we received free, specially catered meals, free Tableau jerseys and free bike tune ups. It was a great way to go above and beyond to celebrate the event! I feel very valued as an employee at Tableau and highly recommend working here.

Cons

It can be challenging to get one’s foot in the door. (Tableau is such an awesome place to work, everyone wants to be here.) It can take time and many attempts to move forward in the applicant process. The growth rate is incredible, and as such, there are some growing pains when it comes to onboarding within teams. Approval processes can also be lengthy as each organization grows. Thankfully, these are known areas of opportunity, and processes are currently being built to address them.

Monotonous & Stressful Work

Pros

Market leading product. Good salary (if you're hitting quota). Lots of sales training. Trips to the US. Free food. Do well and you may well be promoted quicker than at other companies.

Cons

If you're applying for a sales role within the Commercial team, know that this is a glorified call centre. Client-facing opportunities arise but you're told you can't leave the office. Meanwhile client is telling you the competition is delighted to come out and see them. Micro management that prefer the stick to the carrot. Growth plans are aggressive and the pressure trickles down. Long sales cycle (although management will insist it doesn't need to be) so it's hard to land big deals within 6 month probation. Inequality across the territories - be prepared to see some of your colleagues booking constant "blue bird" deals or having partners book 50%+ of their deals whilst you're bending over backwards for a single license deal.

Pros

Good Desktop product, genuine desire to please customers.

Cons

When does a business become a cult? Enthusiastic, clean-cut, charismatic leader with a gift for public speaking: Check. A strong message embraced by the entire organization and evangelized to the world at every opportunity: Check. Energetic, hyperbolic, youth-centric culture that prides itself in unwavering postivity yet subtly punishes those who do not subscribe to their fervor: Check. Infantilization of its members by encouraging a childlike attitude, and by providing food in lieu of competitive salary: Check. You have been warned.
