Pros

Incredible employee culture, organization supportive of employees, lots of flexibility and support to help employees follow diverse career paths, incredible customer base and product, really awesome hearing that the product you build/sell/teach makes a difference. Solid benefits, healthy office culture, great office locations if you are in one. Really positive place to work. Incredible dedication to work/life balance and personal development. Great C-suite these days.

Cons

The company is still adjusting to standard HR practices around career paths and compensation. It's rarely a major issue, but things do take some time. Young or inexperienced managers run a few departments, compounding any issues that might arise regarding professional development and career paths. That's about it...

Tech Support at Tableau

Pros

Absolutely amazing coworkers, excellent immediate managers. Expectations were reasonable and I always felt that management was on my side. While I was there we had pretty high turn-over because of the low pay, but they recently gave a huge raise to everyone in tech support right before I left, which mostly fixed this issue. Good training program for Tableau products. Great benefits, free food, good culture. Its clear that Tableau as a company cares a lot about its employees. While I was there it definitely had some growing pains while it was maturing into the large company it is now. I didn't leave because I didn't like Tableau, its just the job wasn't for me.

Cons

There wasn't a lot of training for non-Tableau products, which became an issue as our customers became more sophisticated. Advancement path was not always very clear and there were limited opportunities for people in tech support to move to other roles within the company. Not very many women/minorities in leadership positions.

Great Place to Work

Pros

Tableau has been a fantastic place to work for many years running. They have been able to recruit and retain both highly skilled as well as great people for as long as I can remember. There are also several internal initiatives to up-level all employees, providing people with skills they're able to use in current and future roles. And, new leadership seems to have the right idea, although all the kinks aren't yet worked out. Oh, and it's by far the best product in the data visualization space, hands down.

Cons

We are that awkward teenager that is transitioning into a grown-up company. We don't have answers to all questions, and we aren't totally sure what we need to become in a year.
