When you are acquired by take two interactive I would highly recommend leaving to find a new job within a year. “People operations” is a joke and I have never met a team who is so short sighted and cares so little about people in my entire career. Here’s what you can expect: - horrible health care - expect to pay $150 a month for an HSA. They will be “generous” and give you $750 in your HSA which doesn’t go far with the $3000 deductible and the fact that you are going to get charged $300 for a 15 minute virtual appointment -say goodby to unlimited time off and get excited about 11 days of paid vacation that you get to accrue at a molasses pace! Don’t worry if you grind for 2 years you can accrue and extra 3 days! Oh you want to save up for a whole year to go on a long vacation for that much needed mental break?!? Don’t be silly only 5 days roll over and all the rest are not paid out and will just disappear

Asked what kind of laptop and OS I wanted, then sent a crappy Dell laptop with Windows. Boss always knows "exactly how to implement this". Talked to boss about how tedious it was to work with the code base, his response was "You'll get used to it". They had their own transpiler, so I recommended a way to avoid doing what they were doing (I can't divulge the details unfortunately) and his response was "What we have is explicit. We like explicit, and we're not changing it"

Pros

Working with great people, and working with the latest technology and pushing the limits of the industry. In engineering you actually get proper tools including properly specced computers to get your work done properly! Not to mention if you have an issue, the technology team is there to actually help you and work with you. The CEO & executive team understand the business very well and are great leaders. They are not afraid to stick up for social issues when it matters, or make big bets when necessary.

Cons

The video game business requires crunch and for you to work hard. However it has gotten a lot better over the years. Avoid the HR department at all costs! The department is the achilles heel of the company and needs an overhaul as they single handley driven multiple people to leave the team (including me!) for various reasons. This includes gaslighting, poor talent management, and even working against company interests like causing great candidates to reject offers due to bad process and communication.
