Pros
The customers are fantastic. The clothes are of exceptional quality and style which made it easy and fun to sell. Loved connecting with the customers and creating a return relationship. My coworkers were all fantastic as far as I was concerned.
Cons
Put in extensive effort giving superb customer service, knowledge of the merchandise (ie. fit and the such). All around dedicated to my job and that which was required. However, training was lacking. Minimal training in the beginning on creating the customer experience and developing relationships. Training on the actual programs used for payroll, and other management requirements specific for the company, were subpar and lacking. Asked for follow-up and printed information to back up the little information given. The packets were promised, but not delivered. When let go, I was told that I did not seem to understand the programs that I was not properly trained on. Ouch. I loved my coworkers, and was nothing but friendly to them. Business friendly. A couple coworkers created unnecessary drama with me in the workplace that could have been dealt with if they had simply addressed me about it. Also, things were misinterpreted and blown out of proportion. However, when in a management position this is a common thing. Work is business not personal, predominantly. I found this drama to be absolutely immature. Spent so much time on recovery and the such. My manager acted like I spent my nights walking around in circles. Summary is this: put in 200% expect 0% in return. What a disappointment. I expected much better from this company. Also, this all happened weeks before Christmas. Thanks, Talbots, for letting me go instead of working with me to make me a better employee. Also, was offered a seasonal temporary sales position as a consolation prize through December which I declined. Why give them a cushion for the holidays and soften the blow for me? No thanks, Talbots, I'm a tough cookie. You don't deserve me.
