Pros

Decent working hours to work-life balance available.

Cons

Wages weren't that great. Discounts on purchasing clothing as a sales associate weren't that generous as told at time of interview. Customers received generous discounts on purchases. Hours were cut to meet weekly payroll. Favoritism amongst employees for obtaining more hours. The store was horribly disorganized and sloppy! No creative nor artistic input allowed. Inhouse bickering amongst employees. Not friendly team playing environment. Manager placed more workload on Sales Associates that didn't fit the job description. No career advancement available. No compensation nor benefits for sales associates.

Talbots is Failing

Pros

Thought employee discount was impressive until I purchased clothes, of inferior quality, sizing wrong, and poor styles. Not the Talbots of yesterday.

Cons

Poor pay; hours reduced; less staff to handle peak hours; managers treat sales associates as second-class employees; Stores are filthy; have not been professionally cleaned since covid; air quality poor and mold in bathroom; rugs have not been cleaned in several years.

A good employer

Pros

Talbots values an ability to foster client relationships. Their approach to supporting employees seems holistic: training, role playing, and clear goals. The cake is iced by the managers' ability to provide realtime feedback and coaching. From the HR side, 1) the company mission and associated values are known by all employees and 2) compensation is realistic for retail sales. Every sales person can focus on the client as we work as a team rather than individually earned commission. Other great aspects are the experience level of management and the years of service of employees--- the minimal attrition enables building of competence and good teamwork.

Cons

Only downside is morning opening as not much for morning traffic. Pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.
