Pros

Used to work with a lot of great people. Pay is decent in comparision to similar jobs. Discount is good, but still not enough to buy clothing. Customers are awesome!!!!!

Cons

In all my years of retail, I have never come across a manager displaying such blatant favoritism. Upon being with the company she had a staff meeting that was not canceled the day of Hurricane Irene, risking the lives of all of her staff. One of her first hires was a close friend of hers, that she hired as management level. Employees are requested to clean bathrooms, but company does not provide insurance opportunities to those who work the hours to deserve it. All of the diseases and nasty things in the bathroom should be taken care of by people who make the money and are provided with health insurance. Sales associates are expected to call customers in if business is slow. Talk about nerve!!! If they had the money, the time, or the urge they would be in the store. The CEO/head of the company still has a job after saying that basically Talbots customers aren't sophisticated enough for the fashions the store is putting out. How about Talbots is not making the right clothing and it is their own fault. Stop passing the blame. Associates do their jobs and then some with no appreciation. Getting breaks is impossible and employees are often left in the store by themselves, making it not possible for use of the restroom.

Pros

Fellow sales associates and lower level management and clients are nice. Discount is nice. Its a clean and comfortable environment.

Cons

Having worked in a high volume store for years, you get worked to death. Being full time is brutal physically. Management fails to reward employees who consistently contribute in high sales numbers, customer satisfaction, team building, and that are very reliable. Loyalty and taking ownership of your job and responsibilities are often and consistently overlooked or ignored. In addition, management of fellow employees behavior on the sales floor in regards to bullying other sales associates for sales is at best weak. Current members of the sales team stereotype customers by their looks, speak of politics and religion on the sales floor. If you want a place to work your way up, this is not it.

Pros

Clothes-They do have some interesting pieces Pay-Competitive with similar brands Location and Atmosphere-Usually more upscale and refined Co-workers-I have met a lot of interesting and nice people through Talbots

Cons

They are very selling focused. And they do not pay commission for your efforts. Oftentimes their demands are desperate and unrealistic and they do not know and or care about that. They are a hurting company. Their inventory control is out of whack and disorganized.
