Pros

The customers are so amazing. Its nice to get to talk to them and know about them. The company gives so much training and it is encouraged to grow within the brand. My coworkers are spectacular, too. Everyone helps each other and there isn't any drama!! I always feel supported and challenged to do my best. It is incredible. The discount is fantastic, too.

Cons

Sometimes we get very busy and its difficult to give each customer the attention I think she deserves. I also wish we had more time to steam all of our product.

There was a time....

Pros

Beautiful and timeless product. Great associate discount.

Cons

There was a time when developing and coaching was on the forefront. Now it seems that the culture has shifted to associates getting on boarded in only a few days without really understanding the Talbots culture. There was a time when new team members both sales and management were given two weeks of complete training with the use of videos, literature, roll play, and shadowing. While I understand that our clients come first I think it's a disservice to them when team members are not on boarded in a manner where they have been given the knowledge to serve them.

Pros

This company is invested in her customer. Time and tools are provided to ensure every associate is focused on the customer and her needs. Training is continuous to teach new skills. I am always pushed to explore new ways to exceed the customers expectations. This company has a very loyal customer that is a pleasure to serve.

Cons

There is a heavy responsibility to connect with new customers through outreach and networking, which is both awesome and challenging. This is only listed as a con because it is truly hard work and may scare some away. It is also a great opportunity to learn new skills and challenge your current management style. You will not be successful here if you are not willing to try new things.

Pros

The customers are fantastic. The clothes are of exceptional quality and style which made it easy and fun to sell. Loved connecting with the customers and creating a return relationship. My coworkers were all fantastic as far as I was concerned.

Cons

Put in extensive effort giving superb customer service, knowledge of the merchandise (ie. fit and the such). All around dedicated to my job and that which was required. However, training was lacking. Minimal training in the beginning on creating the customer experience and developing relationships. Training on the actual programs used for payroll, and other management requirements specific for the company, were subpar and lacking. Asked for follow-up and printed information to back up the little information given. The packets were promised, but not delivered. When let go, I was told that I did not seem to understand the programs that I was not properly trained on. Ouch. I loved my coworkers, and was nothing but friendly to them. Business friendly. A couple coworkers created unnecessary drama with me in the workplace that could have been dealt with if they had simply addressed me about it. Also, things were misinterpreted and blown out of proportion. However, when in a management position this is a common thing. Work is business not personal, predominantly. I found this drama to be absolutely immature. Spent so much time on recovery and the such. My manager acted like I spent my nights walking around in circles. Summary is this: put in 200% expect 0% in return. What a disappointment. I expected much better from this company. Also, this all happened weeks before Christmas. Thanks, Talbots, for letting me go instead of working with me to make me a better employee. Also, was offered a seasonal temporary sales position as a consolation prize through December which I declined. Why give them a cushion for the holidays and soften the blow for me? No thanks, Talbots, I'm a tough cookie. You don't deserve me.

It is a great atmosphere for both employees and customers where you feel valued and special! There is a constant collaboration in all levels from store to senior leadership and an incredible support system within stores, peers, and senior leadership.
