Pros

Great casual work to do on the side when studying in high school or university. Simple work, only as stressful as you make it for yourself, and a chance to make some great friends.

Cons

Can get boring if you are stuck in the same department for a long time, aim to move around a little. Depending on your manager/supervisor, your shifts can get messed up as there is no documentation or accountability when it comes to the rosters.

Pros

Hours were flexible for university students such as myself and easy to work with. The cashier and checkout systems were simple and the job was not overly challenging. Staff discounts were available for a range of stores

Cons

Not a lot of training when starting of as a trainee. Furthermore, there isn't much opportunity for career advancement or changing from a casual position to a full-time position.
