Pros

You meet new people who are just trying to make a little money just like yourself. The training is straightforward and usually whoever is training you is genuinely nice.

Cons

As a cashier, they will actually time how fast you ring customers up regardless of how many shopping carts and items that the customers have. Depending on who's supervising, you can get a very rude remark, telling you to pick up the pace. If you're setup at a register near the clothes area, be prepared to waste time trying to ring up clothes (some have price tags missing). Even for part-time, the work schedule is not as flexible. It can get very boring on a slow day and on a busy day it can get extremely hectic but that's typical with most retail stores.

Pros

Growth of company - poised to become the "Best Company Ever" and launched as an overall strategy for the corporation. Individual growth- company is always looking within to promote those that will lead it through the next years and achieve their goal as "best company ever" Training- Target provided great leadership training. Their ideas of a "brand manager" rely on their E's of excellence and leadership dimension strategies. They are constantly judging and evaluating you based on performance, appearance, charisma, how you speak, how you motivate others, and how your image is brought to the forefront. The spend considerable time going over wins and ops for you, and you learn a lot.

Cons

Work life balance: the company and their minions always state that they are concerned with work life balance. However if you are looking to be promoted and a career, work life balance does not exist. Your managers expect you to switch your schedules around constantly and work extra hours and days regardless of your personal life. They say if you want to get promoted your family life is second to work and that is just how it is. You are expected to do this while preaching work life balance to your team, but you do not live this at all.
