Pros

If you need a mindless job so you can make a few extra dollars. You get 10% off everything.

Cons

Everything except the team leads, because they are the only people at the company that know anything about their job. Every person I have had any communication with at the corporate level thinks that they are superior to everyone below them, and has little common respect for the hourly team members. This company is in disarray right now because they have only focused on marketing during the last 20 years. This has created a culture of creativity, but with no substance. All of the merchandise is just as cheap as Wal-Mart except that they paid way too much for some "designers" name on the product.

Pros

Target is an extremely friendly and development-oriented company. It places a lot of emphasis on formal reviews and training--ongoing communication with levels above and below ensures strong information flow. It would be a great place to start a career or to intern: CEOs seem to come from the very lowest ranks and work all the way up. The employees are very social people, with a great deal of openness both personally and professionally.

Cons

Analytical aptitude is not valued at the lower levels, with many incoming college graduates being trained well in marketing and image management but not familiar with basic analytical methodologies. Complex work is dismissed too easily.

Pros

Depending on the store, the people can be great to work with. My store almost felt like family. They are finally starting to catch up in technology. There are better price scanners and the LPDA's are great.

Cons

Management loves to pull you from your position to do things completely unrelated to your job or area. As a specialist, I was supposed to stay in just my area doing what I specialized in. I wound up doing odd jobs all over the store. Working Christmas stinks! You wind up working really long hours in order to clean up the store at night.
