Pros

Pay and expanding leadership skills

Cons

Work life balance. Difficult to set up a regular schedule and long hours. Company currently cutting back payroll hours therefore management has to work longer to make-up for less employees working.

Pros

Target pays better than its competitors in the retail industry. Also, the management team has a rotating schedule where they get two weekends off per month- very rare in the retail/restaurant industry. Last, Target supplies its "team members" with a wealth of support in the form of consistent communication from HQ, Group, and District offices. Change happens frequently, but the management team tries to keeps its employees abreast.

Cons

Nights/weekends are required- the nature of the retail beast. Also, this is no 9 to 5. Hours can fluctuate dramatically w/in a week. If stability is something you're looking for, Target may not be the best fit.

Pros

Target provides a flexible work schedule, which makes it ideal for either students or people with other full-time jobs. Also, even though working in retail isn't ideal no matter what, Target seems like they care a little bit more about their employees than some of their competitors. The HR department is very friendly and they try to help as much as they can. They don't get upset when asked questions or when presented with "problems". I was very satisfied as a whole.

Cons

The pay at Target isn't as comparable as it could be with other competitors. Before I took the job at Target, I had been offered a job at Meijer (same position) and would have gotten paid almost a dollar more. I turned down Meijer to work at Target for a little bit less because the other employees seemed happier and more genuine. All in all, the pay could be more competitive.
