Pros

great discount for items in the store, great uniform, basically a great place to shop and work at the same time!

Cons

Long hours, low pay, you have to wear that stupid red shirt that makes you look like a joke everyday.

Work at Target

Pros

Pay is good compared to surrounding retailers. Treat employees with recognition at all levels. Encourages team members to cooperate with each team to help the overall guest expierence.

Cons

Very driven to complete tasks in the ultimate shortest time possible. To get more work done with less people on each team. Constant drive to beat the clock, without short cuts. Hold teams accountable when things are not quite right to perfection, then drive ahead with pick up the pace. Push Push Push lets take it to the next level all the time. Push so hard that breaks are skipped just to keep up. It seems that there is not enough time to get it all done on each shift. Certain positions find it difficult to balance leadership management with talent and task management.

Pros

The company really does try to make the shopping experience the best for the consumer or "guest". They have a well organized back room compared to the other 3 retailers I've worked for. They also have a great way to locate and stock merchandise on the shelves.

Cons

I took the job to get "in the door" with hopes of being promoted especially with a 4 yr degree and some prior management experience. I was told I didn't have enough "Target" experience for the lead position. I can"t learn more "Target" knowledge if they keep me in the exact same place, nevermind that I have already been "managing" the other new employees since my 2nd week. I understand that because I have only been with the company for 4 months that I cannot possess all the knowledge I should but apparently I have managed to pick up a few things in that time. If you who are reading this are uncertain of my competence, you should continue to read my advice to management which I can almost guarantee nobody in management will read.
