Great name, crazy culture

Pros

Great opportunities to move to different areas within the company. Not a silo-mentality place.

Cons

Lack of business maturity within the culture. Peers are quick to point fingers when things go wrong, and not take responsiblity for actions. In marketing, awful onboarding for folks who have not worked at Target for years, and are coming from outside the company. The overall systems are so antiquated that it actually prevents folks from doing their jobs. For those looking at marketing, it's really an advertising agency with a 'marketing' label. No influence over the product or product decisions ~ if you are business oriented, or have an MBA, you'll hardly ever use your left brain. In addition, just went through a major reorg in which the current skill level of employees, and IT systems, can not handle. It's complete chaos.

Pros

Being able to work in a decent environment given that your co-workers are semi-competent, which at my store, hasn't been an issue so far.

Cons

Being retail, it gets fairly repetitive after a few months and the program used to give time-lines/goals is a bit outlandish at times. Also, under-staffing can be a large issue when working in the backroom because you feel the heat from your superiors if/when the backstock isn't finished prior to 11am, but in reality there's no reasonable way to get that done given how many people are present on truck days. Hours aren't always guaranteed and in some cases are funneled to a few individuals rather than spread out amongst the team.

Pros

Target is flexible with hours and tend to not hire idiots. Customer service is stressed as it should be. This is a place that really tries to work with employees so they have a life outside of work. There are quite open lines of communications within the store which is a welcome relief from what I was used to in the past. All in all, it is a pretty content group of people. I am new at the job, within the past two months, but so far it has been a decent place to work. All seem to work together well.

Cons

Well, it is a retail store so the hours can be early or late. Around the holidays do not plan on traveling as that is the busy time of year. That is ok because I have always, except for two years, had such positions. If you are on the Flow team or on the sales floor you will be on your feet almost all day in case that matters. The customers are really not bad. Most are in fact quite decent. Rude employees who do not take care of customers will not like to work here as customer service is very importaint.
