Pros

Target offers many great oppourtunities as long as you are willing to put the time and effort in. They hire smart people, so just being smart is not good enough. The work environment is one in which you will be challenged to be the best. At times it can be competitive, but for those that are type-A, you would enjoy it. There are many oppourtunities to be promoted as long as you own your career and understand that Target is looking for leaders, not just workers. This is a very high energy exciting place to work. There is not a day that goes by that I am watching the clock waiting for the day to end.

Cons

If you are not into a work environment where there is competition and constant challenges, Target is not the place for you. If you want to do the same job for the rest of your life, Target is not the place for you. If you are a independent worker who doesn't like collaborating with others on your team, you will have a difficult time being successful. Target is all about team and partnering with your co-workers.

Pros

The pay is good and depending on the location the people can be great too. There is so much to do every day that you will never have a moment when you're not busy.

Cons

management isn't honest about promotions and increases. Hours are long and days are grueling. During the regular year you can expect to put in 10-12 hours a day easlily 5 - 6 days a week. Once the 4th quarter hits expect to do 6-7 days a week 12-15 hours a day. Visits are constant and are mostly a waste of time as they don't help fix any type of issues just take up your valuable time.

Pros

very open culture that focuses on development and helping each and every team member grow professionally and personally strong work life balance, team members can manager their time as they see fit as long as getting work done strong financial position even in the current economic environment leadership is open to and solicits feedback on how they are managing the business and developing their teams

Cons

collaborative culture and the need to partner extensively slows down the ability to get things done Target spends a great deal of time on relationships and for people focused on getting things done this can be frustrating
