Pros

It's a large company with a great brand. They hire tons of people so it isn't hard to get a job there. 80 people started the same day I did, I was told that was about average (corporate).

Cons

Career development is forced down your throat. Employees in line-level jobs who have no interest in career development are forced to participate. Salaried employees are expected to toe the line and convince others it's a great benefit of working there. Pay was below what other companies paid for similar work. Senior management was good, middle management struggled.

Pros

friendly atmosphere, fun team member events, great benefits. many oppurtunities for advancement, and a wide variety of different positions within a store.

Cons

Target keeps cutting payroll to save money, but the work load stays the same. whether you like it or not depends on what department you work in, and the volume of the store. Sales Floor is probably the toughest if you are a Team Leader, you may find that other areas such as back room or overnight are better (no guests to deal with). in high volume stores, you have more team members to supervise, but in slower stores you may be doing most of the work.

Pros

Good benefits, decent pay, 10% discount on all merchandise. I've been with Target for several years and worked at mulitiple stores in different states and i can honestly say we have very good management for the most part everyone is repectful and realistic with their expectations of their team-members. There is plenty of room for advancement and transfering from store to store is always an option, stores often reach out to each other to fill positions, although this can be a slow process at times leaving some feeling as if they were passed up. Very good organization and processes for every aspect of business.

Cons

Retail sucks 90% of the time, slow advancement.
