They started reducing the starting salary for people being promoted from within. I started at 62k, and was lucky enough for my boss to fight for a raise during my three year stint. If you can't play politics, this probably is not the job for you in the long run. Corporate can't seem to adjust to the social and economic shifts fast enough. As such, they are relying too heavily on a small batch of burnt out employees. I was easily working at least 70 hours a week because there was *always* something that was soooooo important. Please note the sarcasm.

The workload is unsustainable for the pay and staffing they'll often refuse to hire. Raises aren't done by performance, they're a flat amount distributed amongst team members. And the pay is so low you'll often be working with 16-18 year olds, with the expectation that they'll work like adults. Working overtime was often expected, and if you weren't willing to you'd feel the lack of support from upper management. Otherwise they're anti union through and through, have been since I was first promoted in 2015. They have a whole training video about how leads are supposed to approach team members who talk about it and urge them to reconsider.
