Pros

It's a job.... Retirement match at 4% Job security Good work life balance

Cons

HR only hires people they know who are usually not qualified. There is absolutely no career advancement. Regarding the higher paying jobs the mangers are placed in the positions not hired from within at all. Managers put off their work on everyone else. The lowest paid employees end up keeping things moving because the managers are either no where around, do not know what to do, or take so long to figure it out it takes 10 times as long as it should.

Pros

Fantastic learning experience about how NOT to treat your employees. What I have learned in the past two years with stick with me for a lifetime. For the most part the Johnsonite brand is top not. I cannot say the same for the rest of Tarkett's many other brands.

Cons

Management is about as approachable as a wounded bear. When I first signed on they said it was an open door policy, while this is true; you are more likely to be walking into a sleeping bear's den. Absolutely NO training program has been established for newcomers and you are treated as such. At Tarkett man is an island, good luck crafting a boat. When you approach management and ask for more train you are swept to the side time and time again.

Pros

Tarkett/Johnsonite has introduced some new products and maintains their margins. Many distributors like them. The company should benefit from the rebound in commercial building.

Cons

The management is very insular. The President ventures into the plant once per year. Outside ideas are not welcome. Nepotism abounds. Manufacturing is a step child to “customers.” Good people are marginalized. Systems, procedures and controls are weak. Problems are covered over with band aids.
