Pros

Amazing people, great managers, good leadership, good work life balance, decent office space

Cons

This hurts me to say because I really like Outbrain, but the pay is bad. Even worse once you’re hired your salary is ’locked in’. What I mean by that is you’ll never get a raise >10%, regardless of promotion or title change unless you go out and an offer elsewhere and Outbrain counters. So if you’re thinking about working at Outbrain make sure you fight hard for good compensation up front in the application process.

Pros

Incredible benefits, great colleagues, awesome location, learning resources.

Cons

Extremely poor management on lower level, managers are overwhelmed by their own work that they seem to forget their role as a manager to their managee. Not truly diverse; they sprinkle people of color here and there to make themselves seem inclusive. A group of minorities were recently let go in bulk, which is alarming to say the least. Human resources department is lacking and has no structure, which leads to mishandled situations.

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience at Outbrain. We know that change can be difficult, but we always put a great deal of thought and care into supporting each employee in balance with meeting the dynamic demands of the market. It sounds like we fell short of your expectations. Like many companies, we don’t get everything right, but are committed to doing better in regards to both our culture and our commitment to having a diverse workforce. As Outbrainer’s we are passionate, smart and kind group, and its those shared values and the atmosphere they create, that make us feel good about coming to work every day. Again, thank you for your feedback and all the best for the next step in your career.

Pros

You'll find incredible people in the trenches. Pay and benefits are great. The office is in a great location. Despite the low reputation of the ad-tech industry Outbrain takes great care of its people.

Cons

All in all we're a revenue driven company in ad-tech, so if you're looking for a job for a company that produces something of value for the rest of the world this is probably the wrong place to find it. If on the other hand you want to work hard with hundreds of other talented, intelligent people for an industry poised to implode because of greed then this is your place. It's a strange contradiction because I haven't heard of a company that treats its people better. That said, if ad-tech does implode I think Outbrain is one of the best places to be if you hope to survive it. The communication between the tech teams and the rest of the company is painful to watch. They don't understand each other at all.
