Pros

I am so lucky that all these many years ago Tecolote Research hired, trained and allowed me to dictate my career path. I am privileged to be part of an industry critical to our nation’s well-being and even more fortunate to be part of the Tecolote family. Many companies preach a family atmosphere because it sounds nice and is a strong marketing ploy. It is a reality here at Tecolote, and we work hard every day to maintain a welcoming, close knit, and professional atmosphere. While I have had many opportunities to go elsewhere, I am thankful I did not. I am looking forward to many more fruitful years at Tecolote.

As with any organization, communication can always be improved but it is an area of focus here.

Pros

Ability to access unlimited online trainings, good work-life balance. They want you to stay here a long time, offer fantastic company-paid retirement plan and company-paid healthcare and dental, though there is a large deductible. Also, every employee gets a share of the company. Really positive, laid-back work culture.

Cons

Lowest possible pay. The only training is online. Not very much personnel management or source control, which can be a good thing if what you value is ultimate freedom over efficiency.

Pros

company paid pension plan and employee stock options, plus medical and dental benefit premiums for employee and immediate family are covered by the company

Cons

No training is paid. They tell us we must get certified, but they will not pay for training materials. They will only pay for the fees if you pass. The works is a lot of hurry up and wait. No knowledge sharing, and people end up re-creating stuff someone else in another project might have done. They make us use our own lunch hour to do the annual mandatory timesheet and security training sessions.
