Pros

There are still people who work at Tektronix and also understand the Test and Measurement markets. Benefits are ho-hum, but not as bad as others.

Cons

Tektronix had been sliding downhill before the Danaher acquisition, due to the actions of the greedy stuffed shirts in charge of the purse strings. After the acqutisition....well,...Danaher *is* an investment company after all, regardless of how they like to be perceived as a technology innovator. They won't put money into anything that doesn't guarantee a high return within 1-3 years. Sweatshop-like work conditions. Cowardly upper level management who don't understand their own product and business. Yearly layoffs. Too many buzz-word concepts driving management such as "employees with lots of LOS are overpaid and inflexible, hire the new breed", and "it's always cheaper to outsource". Lots of free travel miles for upper-level management, rather than teleconferences, but anybody below 2nd level management is denied reasonable travel. Previous CEO Amir destroyed all employee confidence with just four words "Just get over it".

Pros

Very intelligent engineering, getting better integrated with Danaher which is helping their very broken development process, campus (or what's left that's actually owned by Tek) is wonderful.

Cons

Management is oddly risk-adverse and is easily bullied by long-time employees. Development teams lack dedication and intensity to compete. Company lacks the skills needed to innovate.

Pros

The company is still doing very cutting edge work in most parts of the company. Salary is competitive and crunch time is minimal. Lots of experienced engineers to learn from. Benefits are still very good too, including six weeks of paid time off including holidays. Everybody's heard of Tektronix, so the name is good on a resume, too.

Cons

Budget is king and spending money is heavily discouraged, so research and development (a formerly big component of expenditures) is highly limited. The constant push for efficiency as mandated by the parent company (Danaher) has eliminated the 'Tek culture' which was a mainstay of working there during the prior 30+ years. Employee turnover is very high; a mixture of layoffs and employees leaving for better opportunities has gutted core talent in multiple business units.
