Pros

Perks such as free coffee and snacks (although the snacks have recently been diminished). Used to have reasonably priced lunch options (recently replaced with expensive and poorly managed cafeteria). You'll meet wonderful co-workers outside of upper management.

Cons

All the reviews you've seen about the Junior Data Analyst role, and similar roles attempting to attract young graduates is 100% true. Distinct lack of respect from management, and despite some fairly recent changes to the department, you are still treated as a child and are held to an archaic standard that is designed by business people looking to make money, who know absolutely nothing about clinical data or healthcare. Open office space is loud, and you'll get to watch departments who are paid better than you come in hours late, leave early (while you have to stay past 6 or 7pm on a regular basis to "meet quota"). Each department is ran incredibly differently, and the entire operation is very disorganized. CEO regularly talks about how much new money he's brought into the company but still no word of matching 401K or providing paid maternity leave or vacation (the unlimited vacation policy is a lie and a ruse to not pay out unused vacation days when employees turnover). Absolutely no true advancement for JDAs or entry-level positions in this company - you'll maybe get a $1000 raise after a year, regardless of whether you were a top performer in the role or had additional responsibilities. If you're truly lucky, you might get made a DA, where you'll get more responsibility without additional pay.

Pros

+ Big data cancer genomics is the future of healthcare + Possible opportunity for growth

Cons

- Unconcerned with quality control of laboratory data. - Growth path is unclear and not based on employee output or hours worked. - No overtime and expectations to not take vacation despite being offered 'unlimited paid time off.' - Poor training, standards, and protocols - Critical oversights in experimental design that may prove detrimental to patient care - Unprofessional work culture (Operations and management teams drinking while later shift employees are working, cell phone use within the laboratory, development of cliques) - Questionable and biased work evaluation that does not follow a protocol; likely borders on illegal practice as evidenced by high turnover and distribution of gag-orders
