Pros

The biggest positive was the people. My coworkers outside of leadership were incredibly talented, supportive, and genuinely cared about doing great work. I was given opportunities to take on new challenges, learn quickly, and expand my skill set in ways I probably wouldn’t have elsewhere. If you’re looking for a role where you’ll gain experience fast and wear a lot of hats, you’ll definitely get that here.

Cons

Leadership lacked a clear vision and frequently changed priorities before teams had a chance to execute or measure results. The constant pivoting created an environment where it often felt like the company was chasing the next idea instead of committing to a long-term strategy. Subject matter experts were regularly asked for input, but their expertise was often ignored when decisions were made. It was frustrating to watch leadership invest significant time and money into initiatives that employees had already identified as unlikely to succeed, only to act surprised when they failed. There also seemed to be very little accountability at the leadership level. Despite repeated strategic missteps, the impact was often felt most by employees through recurring layoffs that became an annual expectation rather than an exception. The lack of stability made it difficult to feel confident in the company’s direction or invest in a long-term future there.

Thanks for the honest feedback, and for the time you've put in with us. Glad the flexibility and scrubs perks are landing well. You're not wrong about staffing being a real challenge, especially in fast-growing markets like Boston. Turnover in dental support roles is tough industry-wide, but that doesn't make it any easier for the team members covering the gaps day to day, and we don't want to pretend that pressure isn't real. We're actively working on staffing and retention so our teams have the support they need to do their best work without running lean all the time. If you ever want to talk specifics about what you're seeing on the ground, we'd genuinely like to hear it. Reach out at people@hellotend.com. Miriam Scholes, Chief People Officer
