      Good company to work for

      Pros

      Highly skilled work force. Excellent benefits. Good training opportunities. A great place to start out a career or augment with additional skills. Generally good management. Interesting work. Teradata is the best product in its market space. Customer base appreciates the product and the Teradata workforce who support it.

      Cons

      Teradata is struggling recently due to the percieved threat of open source BigData (Hadoop). This has caused it consternation/confusion at the management ranks. The threat is likely real but Teradata is a great product and could overcome this with proper management action. Lately the work/life balance has been quite negative for the twenty percent who are most dependened upon.

      Coworker great / Management still has lessons to be learned

      Pros

      Co-workers are great and the only reason i stay as long as i did. Some of them are not fun due to being overworked and management dropping more on them.

      Cons

      Management thinks the own you. Teradata Dayton pay well below going rates and does not negotiate. Project timelines are a joke, with app owner the project manager.

      Pros

      I like working with products and not having to over-sell them. I have been offered positions at a higher salary to work for companies with inferior products... I couldn't do it. There is a huge benefit to knowing that you are selling the best solution.

      Cons

      This company seems to resist internal promotion. This demotivates people an either helps convince them to leave, or leaves them dissatisfied with their pay or opportunity for growth.
