Pros

Quarterly quad parties are a good chance to mingle and meet co-workers without discussing work. Reasonable degree of autonomy, with experience. Benefits (except pay) are good.

Cons

Pay is below industry standard. Raises are measly; they depend on bonuses to make some of it up but in bad years these are tiny. The annual evaluations have absolutely no relationship to what you actually did during the year, or your value to the company. Company currently transitioning its mission and upper management can't seem to figure out what to be. Middle management is mixed; some are good, some are clueless and have no idea how you spend your day. My last manager didn't know anything about my job and didn't seem to care. Job security is poor as they have instituted periodic random layoffs that don't seem related to performance.

Pros

Amazing co-workers, who want only the very best.

Cons

Virtually the entire leadership of the company is new and naive, or the old guard is too stuck in pre-cloud mentality to think outside the box. Product is premium, over priced, absurdly complex, and antiquated AWS, GCP, and Azure are the future; while TD has a hybrid/on-prem offering, this will continue to diminish until competition delivers a final blow. Answers are pointless without results, and while TD bloviates about future features and offerings, competitors are delivering daily. I have witnessed several Sr. Executives/C-Suite lie about proof of concept results, account wins, and financial performance. There is no product road map with any reasonable detail or plan. Performance reviews are political and "bell curved" your pay and bonus are entirely based off Management's perception outside of Quota'd roles.

Teradata Response

We're glad you find your co-workers amazing. After all, the people are what make Teradata. We appreciate your feedback, and hope you are also excited for our new CEO, Steve Mcmillan, to take the helm June 8. Here's a snippet of what he has to say about his goals and priorities. " I intend to take a customer-led approach and bring my collaborative and open leadership style to this great franchise to advance its strategy and to ensure Teradata is the partner of choice for customers around the world who need hybrid, cloud-based solutions." Thanks for your review.

Pros

Unlimited Vacation Mileage reimbursement Get to work in various data centers throughout your area

Cons

Lack of recognition for individual efforts Very time consuming, expect a lot of a after hours and weekend work, if you complain they'll just wave you signed up for a 24x7 job Non Technical managers are the worst. They'll micromanage you with no regards to your own time as to why you aren't getting things done faster. They offer nothing and are completely unsympathetic to your needs. Most them are there thanks to cronyism mentioned in a few other posts. No Overtime. On Call pay is a joke. Back filling open positions burdens the existing staff. I had been through several changes in the team during my duration and it was always painful on boarding new hires as the company offered training isn't good. At one point it took 6 months to bring on a replacement for the departed SSE. That was 6 months of running around to cross cover for that lack of that employee. Lack of ownership from other organizations and teams, it's always someone else's problem which usually falls to the low guy on the totem poll. Flex time is a myth, you'll work all your nights and weekends and when you need a break you're denied. You get punished for the sins of others, they might be gone but you'll feel the burn of their mistakes. One manager I had was extremely disrespectful, held grudges and psychologically tormented me for most of my time with the company. This was a pattern that also led to several departures, if they didn't want somebody around, they certainly knew how to turn the volume up to get rid of them. Filed a case with Human resources about this manager that went unresolved and ultimately led to my departure. No Growth in the role. You're punished for liking break fix activities.
