Pros

I always enjoyed meeting new customers and trying to solve whatever problems they were having. Sales opportunities. Plenty of work to do. No layoffs. Good benefits. Company provides opportunities to pursue state certifications, and licensing.

Cons

The company focuses on sales quotas and doesn't care about quality service anymore. Bad work/life balance. Toxic in office environment. A lot of politics. I've seen too many people come into the industry/company and get promoted to management positions after being there for a short time just based off of their sales numbers alone. Too many times I've seen technicians have more knowledge and training in the industry than management. A lot of turnover with management. You can potentially invest a lot of time and effort into training and the company, just to have a new manager come and destroy it all. The politics makes it possible for secretaries to schedule late appointments if they don't like you, or give other technicians leads in your defined area. New managers can take away new leads and greatly influence your income. They've created an office environment that allows crooked, dishonest employees to thrive. A lot of scandal involving relationships between employees, employees and customers. If deception, dishonesty, and a lack of work ethic is what you're about...Welcome To Terminix!

Pros

The benefits are decent. You can get alot of overtime during the busy season and my personal supervisor is great. They do raffles and prizes when theres mandatory OT... The managers are not the worst but then again not the best. They recognize employees when they are doing well and encourage a positive environment.

Cons

Considering that you are talking to customers nonstop, i dont feel the compensation/pay is enough. Very stressfull and possibly even detrimental to our health. If you cant handle being yelled at most of the day, this job is not for you. The trainers should also have expierience taking calls, they train straight out of a huge book and the trainers have never even taken calls! They train you on ALOT of things, but the problem is the trainers dont know what situations you encounter most commonly, so they teach you alot of things you dont use, and you end up training yourself when you get put on the phones. The training is terrible. The trainers are nice but dont have enough expierence on the phone in order to share what you'll be expecting.

Pros

You learn how to steal from the customer. This is helpful if you want to start your own company and maximize profit.

Cons

The office doesn't have proper equipment. Backpacks leak chemical all over workers on a daily basis. The trucks were falling apart and they wouldn't buy new ones. The company requires you to power spray houses but we used broken back packs cause the power sprayers didn't work. You weren't given the chemical you needed to do the job. You would have to beg for chemical and most good techs bought their own chemical. If you called out sick you were threatened you'd lose your job. Management made improper comments on a daily basis (some sexual, some just unethical). The culture of the branch was pretty much "shut up or leave." If you complained about mistreatment you would be targeted and fired for violations you didn't commit. When I first started working there other employees that had been there for 10 years plus gave me some advice. They said "if you have a problem don't complain or they'll get rid of you" The managers would take accounts on your routes that canceled due to expired credit cards. Resale the accounts as new accounts and make the employee eat the charge back for the commission. If you had a payroll discrepancy the managers would not help you to fix it. Technicians were constantly buying their own back packs cause the service manager wouldn't buy equipment. The service manager would go to a local mechanic (for pest control trucks) and take the chemical tanks and power sprayers that other companies threw in the trash. He would attempt to fix them and put them on the trucks. After they broke again they would hand you a broken back pack as a replacement. The manager would take broken trucks all around town shopping for the cheapest mechanic (who also would be ok with not fixing all of the problems even if unsafe).
