Pros

The benefits package is pretty good and appears to be getting better next year.

Cons

Management flat out lies to its employees. When hired you will be told many things that are simply not true, especially regarding your expected work schedule. If you plan on getting a weekend, holiday or even an evening off at a reasonable time, forget it. The schedule is completely unpredictable. Some days expect to work, without any advanced notice, 12 or 14 hours. Other days you will be sent home after 1 hour, but expected to remain on call in case something comes up. The worst are days when there is nothing in the morning, and you will be told to "get off the clock" until your later job, which could start as late as 7:00pm. During the busy season, expect to work 10-14 hour days 7 days a week. The overall lack of workplace safety is another major downside. Anytime when required safety equipment is on "back order" for 2 months at the same time that management is openly cutting other corners, such as office supplies and vehicle maintenance, to make budget (read: bonuses), there is something very wrong.

Pros

Terminix is the largest pest control company in the nation. They are a Fortune 500 company and have good incentives.

Cons

The earning potential has very much diminished. In the past, one could make some good money with this company. For the past couple of years, it's gone down by THIRTY-FORTY PERCENT. The leads have gotten progressively worse. The benefits took a turn for the worse in 2008. BEWARE!!!

Pros

Freedom to do your job but commission only and termite and pest control are seasonal. You can make good money in season but in the winter you must be creative.

Cons

Commission only on all sales. Must use your own car and pay your gas. You are compensated for gas but it is based on your sales. Cold calling is required. With the economic situation getting very tight people are trying to cut back and cut corners and doing many things themselves. Pest control is one of these things. Also, many people do not see a termite inspection and protection plan as a necessity. Terminix will hire and train but only the very best sales people can make it through the winter months. Also, crawling under houses.
