Better firms out there to work at...

Pros

Usually lots of work to go around which means lots of overtime pay. No micromanaging. Company provides all materials and protective clothing/equipment.

Cons

The company culture is divided into two groups. Those that are a PE and those that are not. If you are a PE it is a decent place to work for. If you are not, you will never get anywhere in this company, no matter what your skill level, experience, or education. Low starting pay across the board. Bonuses for hourly are a joke and benefits are mediocre at best. Employee owned company, by the upper level employees, of course. Safety is preached by management but when it comes down to it they want you to "just get the job done." Most of them have no idea what is going on with their projects and never step foot onto a construction site. Speak your mind or raise concerns and you will regret it!

Pros

Benefits, people in the office, company trucks, free coffee everyday, and not required to provide your own office supplies.

Cons

No room for growth among the different groups. People in management love working there, and never leave. Even if they under perform. Difference between Terracon and every other consultant out is, other consultants do a better job of communication With their employees. At Terracon there is no open door policy. No one will help you along with what is expected of you. Not a place of you are just starting out. Terracon communicates by sending you a letter saying you have been laid off, but it's not your fault it was your mangers. Managers have to bring in work for the younger staff and keep themselves busy, but make sure your Terracon manager is good with marketing. In most cases they are not. So you are forced to find work yourself, hay wait but they tell you constantly it is not your job to find work. Funny how that works.

Pros

The stock plan seems to be really good and benefits seem to be ok. If you can get up into upper management you can have a real future here, I think.

Cons

Co-workers are not happy and always quitting, and the pay is horrible. Engineers are hired at $15.00 an hour. Upper management seems to busy putting out fires due to short staffing, and not focusing on the real problems, like hiring qualified staff, paying them accordingly and keeping them for the long term.
