Pros

A well developed IT department and good use of technology to make some tasks easier - much of which is developed internally. Some decent, experienced Engineers. There is a manual and a procedure for everything and there is always someone to call somewhere for help. Salary and benefits were "OK". Good safety culture.

Cons

Most everything is conscripted for you - too much so. Company is large and cumbersome with a lot of overhead and many layers of management. Often times one layer of management didn't know what the other was doing. Nearby offices were not helpful since each office is treated as its own profit center and there was very little to no desire or incentive for another office to provide help if it was not overly beneficial to their advantage. Nearby offices seemed to compete with one another for work in a region. Upper management is very reactionary with respect to downsizing staff when there is a short lull in workload. Short term decisions are made without considering the longer term consequences to office morale and an office's ability to handle future workload. Corporate was regularly trying to implement new initiatives and it was very time consuming and created a lot of pressure on the staff and management to keep up with the new mandates.
