Pros

Good private stock, made a small fortune. Great employees, mostly the Field Technicians. Got to learn how to paint the office. Got to call the Jim Rome Show with a company cellphone. Good 401(k) plans available.

Cons

Long work hours, and little respect for those who do the actual work. Top heavy management. Good Ol' boy network in full effect. Management is hypocritical, as they can't pass the Chauncy Test, but you will have to do so. Any questions regarding the Chauncy Test need to be directed to veteran technicians and to middle management department heads, as passing the Chauncy Test will be instrumental in your success as a technician. No room for advancement at all. Got old dealing with attorneys.

Pros

Not to many. Trucks were nice. Office was always air conditioned, coffee was readily available and always hot.

Cons

Long days, frequently worked 2am to 5pm or later. Long weeks, 70+ hours, including Saturday and Sundays. The department managers were a joke, only cared about their departments "charge ability". Pray that it doesn't rain, or you might as well pick up pennies in the parking lot to make a living. No room for advancement, "raises" were laughable. Columbia office was pathetic, watched 15 people get hired and quit within the course of a year.

Pros

Great experience, they are willing to train you and get you any certification, they pay for all equipment needed. Really great company values and a high value on safety. The people Terracon hires have been generally fantastic, and they seem to hire you based on compatibility with other team members more than experience.

Cons

You are expected to work at LEAST 44 hours a week. Most people need to be chargeable at LEAST 85% of the time. Sometimes you have to work on weekends and/or holidays. The offices are usually understaffed and they work you to death.
