Pros

Good benefits, goog work environment, can obtain lots of experience working on large and complicated projects, tremendous help from senior engineers accross the county. Good for a staff engineer

Cons

relatively low pay comparing to some competitors. have to work overtime to meet deadlines. Very slow career advancement if you are not a manager. Not good for a senior level engineer.

Pros

Construction Materials Testing is a very interesting field to work in. There is a lot to learn, and a lot of work going on in Oklahoma City, OK. There were always plenty of hours and overtime to go around.

Cons

Crazy hours at times working as a field technician.

Pros

Flexible hours, good health benefits. You get 3 weeks paid vacation and sick time combined. Management support has been excellent--when there has been a problem, I was pleasantly surprised by their thoroughness of understanding the problem and making the right decision. I have been treated fairly, management has kept its word, and, most importantly, I find ethics to be top notch--I've never been asked to do anything unethical. Current managers treat me with respect and care about the welfare of their employees. There's plenty of work in Omaha environmental group.

Cons

Work hours can be long, the expectation is that you try to put in 44 hours/week as necessary to get the job done. Extra hours are almost always expected from salaried employees, no matter where you go. You're paid to get the job done. Deadlines often demand that if you're going to satisfy the client and you haven't planned properly or get surprised in a project. Unproductive employees are not given important feedback to improve and are left alone for too long. Reviews are not conducted regularly, changeability goals are not realistic, however, that doesn't appear to hurt people--there seems to be a norm about this that is generally accepted.
