Pros

Roughly know what the next week will look like the week before. Jobs can take long or short and your hourly job ends when the days jobs are done. Culture is safety and the managers take it seriously and will listen to you if you push back. Nice benefits and PTO. OT is offered and done even for salary guys. Upper management cares. Horizontal movement is easy. Job relocating in a different city is easy.

Cons

Can be off site and in a different state for multiple days or just one day, you do not know until the morning of. Jobs can be short due to managers not locating utilities. Jobs an be long due to conditions. Hours can fluctuate between 20 and 60 hours a week, 4 hours in a day to 14 hours. Jobs can and will be dangerous though. PM's and workaholics are looking out for their own skin. Trying to move up is difficult and trying to learn higher levels of modules in their education system is rejected. Work is work and complaints are usually answered with shrugs and deal with it.

Pros

These are really dependent on the office you are at, but some consistent themes are the strong focus on safety, options for work-related travel, and some interesting projects. I see some reviews complaining about work/life balance, but if you don't make that a priority, then your company surely will not either.

Cons

The overtime structure is confusing and honestly not applicable if you do not work 50+ hours per week. Upper management (again, this is dependent on the office you are in) often low-balls project budgets just to get business, which is counterproductive when the project inevitably goes over-budget. The pay is on the low-side of the acceptable starting salaries for Civil Engineers. I think the most important of all is a lack of a formal mentoring program. I think Terracon adopts a "sink or swim" approach. A formal mentoring program would greatly benefit a new engineer and give them guidance on transitioning from the academic realm to the professional.
