Pros

Great people working for the agency.

Cons

Bureaucracy, C-Level turnover. At the whim of the Legislature.

Pros

You will make good friends with your coworkers, in much the same way soldiers in a fox hole become brothers.

Cons

If you speak out against senior management, even in the hallway - you will be fired or "encouraged" to quit. Executive management each make six figures except for the female directors who make $90,000. Management cannot be trusted - announced no one would be fired during the reorganization then subsequently fired or urged many people to retire. There is no such thing as "Corporate Values." 10% of the agency does 99% of the work. Only way to survive is to be a "Yes-Man." Management announced bonuses and raises but then gave them to themselves!

Pros

Great work/life balance, tons of vacation days, friendly work environment, important job with purpose. I would recommend this job to someone looking to coast through the next 30 years on little pay but little work or to a recent graduate trying to gain some experience.

Cons

Low salary, very few chances for advancement, no raises, no incentives or perks for hard workers, office politics, some very lazy workers. I would not recommend this job to an over-achiever looking to climb the ranks. The well paid jobs at this agency would be easier to transfer into (unless you want to wait 7-10 years)
