No career path for lower ranking employees

Pros

Great dedicated co-workers; excellent benefits

Cons

There is neither merit promotion nor substantial increase (still making less 30K). Our ISAM only shows up at the center if there is an issue involving a State employee otherwise we never see him. State management has done nothing to advance our careers, that's why the younger employees tend to leave because they don't want to be stuck for there is NO career ladder; nothing to look forward to except retirement.

Pros

You get to help people who otherwise might not get it.

Cons

TWC transition is brutal. "Career ladder" seems to be more of a myth even to those who work hard and deserve it. Not enough support/resources/direction to be successful. Too stressful for the pay and the pay is too low for a job that requires a masters degree. Unrealistic expectations of staff.
